Specialists from Novosibirsk State University (NSU) have received a patent for a technology that facilitates the repair, re-equipment, and conservation of oil wells, the university's press service reported.
When drilling a well, a casing pipe is installed to prevent soil from crumbling. It is isolated with cement stone (the depth of isolation can reach 3 km). During repair work, a difficult task arises—to destroy the cement stone.
Employees of the Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization of NSU have developed a technical solution, and the university has received a patent for a method and device for destroying cement stone behind the casing pipe of an oil well.
Instead of the standard cutting of the casing pipe, it was proposed to carry out dissection along the longitudinal axis with a change in shape from round to ellipse.
First, this happens in one direction, and then—with a rotation of 90 degrees.
The new repair technology has reduced the degree of equipment wear and minimized costs. According to scientists, it will become popular, since many oil wells were drilled back in the 60-70s of the last century and now they require repair. In addition, the new method can be used in the gas and coal mining industries.
