About heavy equipment of the Russian engineering troops

Engineering troops use heavy equipment to make way through forests, windbreaks, and destroyed buildings. With their help, trenches and shelters are organized. The first engineering obstacle clearing vehicle was adopted in 1969. Since then, three generations of IMR have appeared in the country.

Several heavy vehicles for engineering troops are being created at "Uralvagonzavod" at once. Among them is the universal armored engineering vehicle (UBIM). It is built on the basis of T-72/T-90 tanks, has a universal bulldozer blade and boom equipment with a fully rotating grab-gripper type bucket.

An engineering obstacle clearing vehicle (IMR-3M) based on the T-90 tank is also being created here. The vehicle is equipped with a "Kord" machine gun. Its engine power is 840 hp. The modified IMR-3 can operate in areas with high levels of radiation.
