Shipbuilders of the Baltic Shipyard have begun mooring trials of the nuclear icebreaker Yakutia (Project 22220 Arktika) with two water-cooled nuclear reactors of the integrated type RITM-200. This was reported by the press service of USC.
USC explained that mooring trials will be held at the outfitting embankment of the plant. Shipbuilders will check the operability of all systems and mechanisms of the vessel, the quality of installation of ship equipment. They will also configure the equipment.

According to him, within the framework of the project 22220 Arktika, the shipbuilders handed over the icebreakers Sibir and Ural to the customer. The vessels have already entered the routes of the Northern Sea Route.
The press service of USC added that after checking the operation of nuclear reactors with a thermal capacity of 175 MW each, the icebreaker Yakutia will be ready for sea trials.
