SberPay (Sberbank's payment service) has launched in Turkey. Russian tourists will be able to pay for goods and services using a QR code. To make a payment through the service familiar to Russians, you need to ask the cashier in Turkey to enable Metropol — the Turkish payment system for stores and restaurants.
Now you can stock up on souvenirs, pay in stores and restaurants without commission using SberPay. To do this, simply say when making a purchase that you are paying through the Metropol system, go to payinturkey.com, click on the "Pay" button, scan the seller's QR code, and pay using a convenient method.
The service is already available in 80 cities in Turkey. You can use SberPay in 30 thousand stores and restaurants in the country. You can find the full interactive map and find places where SberPay payments are accepted here. The bank advises installing a scanner shortcut on the main screen of your smartphone for quick access and looking for stores, cafes, and restaurants with the SberPay sticker.
It is worth recalling that the Russian payment system "Mir" previously operated in Turkey. However, since September 26, 2023, this payment method has become obsolete due to Western sanctions.
Earlier www1.ru noted that Russia and Iran are planning to launch settlements in digital currency.
