St. Petersburg-based company "Northern Sea" and Kaliningrad Marine Fishing Port have signed a contract for the supply of oil spill response equipment to ensure the safety of the water area near Kaliningrad.
The kit includes a boom reel with an electric drive and permanent buoyancy boom barriers.
Boom reels help to compactly store and transport booms. They are also used for twisting ropes, cables, and hoses. The reels are suitable for any type of boom barrier, including heavy-duty marine ones.
Booms are floating barriers that limit the spread of something on the surface of the water. They are made of durable fabric that is resistant to chemicals and petroleum products.
Boom barriers have also been used to protect a harbor or fairway from the passage of an enemy vessel.
Earlier, the electric ferry "General Chernyakhovsky" began operating between Ust-Luga and Kaliningrad.
