Russian FPV drones have received the first jamming-resistant "Hermes" systems. Communication systems that allow drones to increase the range of tasks performed were first produced for global domestic access at the Hermes Design Bureau, a subsidiary of NPO Kaisant.
According to representatives of the parent company, RIA Novosti, the range of drones with such a system has almost doubled. For FPV drones, the limit is mostly 70 kilometers. However, if jamming-resistant communication systems are installed on them, FPV drones will be able to perform missions at a maximum distance of up to 130 kilometers.
However, in the most unfavorable conditions, such as difficult weather conditions, noise, and enemy electronic warfare, the communication system will be weaker. Instead of 70 kilometers, the company can "guarantee the specified distance of 100 kilometers" for a drone equipped with "Hermes".
The developers at the Design Bureau itself, which specializes in unique developments of noise-protected and jamming-resistant communication systems for FPV drones, note that the system has built-in encryption and operates on its own domestic "hardware."
This is a completely proprietary communication protocol and a set of microchips. It [the system, - ed.] is suitable for any FPV drone, aircraft, trolley, or even an unmanned boat. It is this combination that makes our communication capable of maintaining a stable connection at a distance of up to 120 km and operating even under the influence of electronic warfare equipment.
Installing such a system on a UAV takes only one and a half to two minutes: it only requires soldering three wires, then inserting the transmitter into the remote control as an external module and applying power to the drone. The process will be a little more complicated for trolleys and unmanned boats, but it also takes little time.
