It became known when Russia will launch the first domestic "Marathon-IoT" satellites for the Internet of Things.
The first Russian spacecraft of the "Marathon-IoT" group was supposed to go into orbit at the end of 2023, but the launch date was shifted to the first quarter of 2024. Later, the launch was postponed indefinitely to conduct detailed software checks.
Now, the customers of the satellites, represented by the "Sphere" project of Roscosmos, have revealed when the launches of "Marathons-IoT" are expected. According to TASS, the statement was made at the plenary session of the conference on business in the aerospace industry "Simply Space".
This year we are planning to launch two more small spacecraft of the "Marathon" system.
Prokhorov emphasized that the launch of these satellites is "one of the key state tasks" for the development of the Internet of Things market.
"Marathon-IoT" is a satellite constellation for providing Internet of Things services, part of the "Sphere" program of Roscosmos for developing access to the Network throughout Russia. The constellation will consist of 264 spacecraft.
Half of the orbital constellation "Marathon IoT" - 132 regular satellites, plus five experimental "Marathon" spacecraft - are produced by JSC "RESHETNEV". To speed up the assembly of satellites, they use additive technologies and test new promising materials - in particular, domestic carbon plastics.
