Smoothbore "Vepr-12 Molot" shotguns (based on the Kalashnikov light machine gun) have begun to enter the engineering troops of the Russian Armed Forces. The shotguns are produced by the Vyatsko-Polyansky Machine-Building Plant.
According to one of the servicemen, the 12x76 mm caliber shotgun is equipped with a folding stock with a comfortable cheek pad. Thanks to the elongated barrel, the accuracy of fire and lethality are increased.
The magazine of the "Vepr-12 Molot" shotgun is designed for 10 rounds. The weapon also has a Picatinny rail (bracket for mounting a sight). The shotgun helps servicemen destroy drones and neutralize PMN-3, PMN-4, and "Lepestok" mines.
How the shooter-EW operator team works
Russian servicemen who fight UAVs usually work in pairs. One delays the drone in the air with an anti-drone EW gun, and the second shoots at it from a "Vepr-12 Molot" shotgun.
