In Novosibirsk, in 2024, the production of a polymer (embolizate) for vascular surgery, developed by specialists from the Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry SB RAS (NIOCh), will begin. The drug is currently in the certification stage.
The embolizate will be able to block the vessel and prevent hemorrhages. It is specified that it stops clots of pathological capillaries. The polymer can also be used to seal vessels that feed the tumor, thus stopping the growth of the neoplasm.
Novosibirsk scientists have been developing a polymer for vascular surgery as part of the import substitution program. It has already been tested at the Meshalkin Research Center. The production of embolizate will be established at the NIOCh site.
