«Реактор будущего» БРЕСТ-ОД-300 получил российские устройства для охлаждения

This equipment will allow the cooling tower to reduce its environmental impact

The construction of the world's first reactor using a lead coolant, the fourth-generation BREST-OD-300 fast neutron reactor, continues in Seversk. Elements of the cooling tower, which are responsible for its cooling capacity and environmental impact, have already been delivered to the construction site.

The power unit's tower evaporative cooling tower is 80 meters high. Its irrigation area is 4000 m2, and its capacity is 32000 m3/hour. The irrigation and water-catching device made of polymeric materials for the cooling tower was produced at the Nanotechnology Center of Composites (NCC).

The irrigation device is the main element of the cooling tower, responsible for its cooling capacity. Irrigation systems manufactured by NCC have high physical and mechanical characteristics and thermal performance and are certified by JSC "VNIIG named after B.E. Vedeneev", the leading scientific center of the Russian Federation on hydrotechnical construction.
The water-catching device allows minimizing the impact of the operating cooling tower on the environment. A similar device from NCC has a high rate of reducing droplet carryover from the cooling tower with minimal aerodynamic resistance.

This is not NCC's first experience working with nuclear power plants. Over the past 6 years, the center has already made a number of deliveries of products for technological supply systems to the Belarusian, Rostov, Novovoronezh, and Leningrad nuclear power plants.
