Россия откроет заводы по производству собственных сырьевых компонентов для шин

Including vulcanizers and plasticizers among such components

Russia will open factories for the production of its own raw material components for tires. This became known after a meeting between the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, and Russian tire manufacturers.

Currently, there are 18 production sites operating in the country, capable of producing tires of various classes. At the same time, the domestic market is characterized as capacious: at the end of 2023, its volume amounted to about 76 million pieces. In this market, about 60% of domestic tire consumption is accounted for by Russian, as well as foreign manufacturers localized in Russia.

Sanctions did not break the industry: there were no interruptions or shortages in the supply of tires of all types, and jobs were preserved at the enterprises. Russian manufacturers at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade assured that "they are ready to increase production capacity for certain tire sizes".

In this regard, according to the government press service, a number of important issues were discussed at the meeting for the accelerated introduction of domestic products to the market. These are:

  • further development of technical regulation of Russian tire products;
  • development of certification tests for Russian tires;
  • marking system for Russian tires.

The issue of providing raw materials for tire production was also discussed. So far, there are enough components, but for the development of the industry, its own raw material bases are needed within the country.

The entire need for synthetic rubbers is covered by Russian companies, and natural rubbers are supplied from friendly countries. The production of other components (vulcanizers, plasticizers, etc.) is also planned to be mastered in Russia. This work will be carried out within the framework of the federal project "Development of the production of new materials" and a mega-project for import substitution of critical chemical products. At the same time, the Department of Chemical Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has already included 40 raw material components necessary for creating these products in the updated import substitution plan.

In this direction, in 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, through the mechanism of supporting domestic R&D, has already allocated 390 million rubles for the development of five projects to create the production of raw material components for tires.
