The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, stated that the import-substituted version of the medium-range passenger aircraft MC-21 (MC-21-310RUS) should enter the final stage of certification by the end of 2024. At the same time, UAC planned to deliver 6 MC-21s to customers this year.
By the end of this year, I will carefully say that we should reach the final stage of certification, and after receiving the MC-21 certificate, we will begin shipment
The Minister emphasized that the speed of production in the aircraft industry should not affect the safety of aircraft. This is not the segment in which you can create products at the expense of quality, he added.
The MC-21-300 version with foreign components was certified in 2021. The MC-21-310 aircraft with the domestic PD-14 engine was certified in 2022. Now engineers are working on MC-21-310RUS, in which 36 imported systems were replaced with Russian ones, including the automatic landing system.
It was expected that the Russian version of the MC-21 would begin flight tests in 2023, but the aircraft has not yet taken to the sky. In addition, UAC expected that by 2030 they would produce about 270 import-substituted MC-21s. The government planned to allocate about 900 billion rubles for these purposes.
