Russia has assembled the first giant machine tool P5220 for aviation enterprises, which is capable of cold stamping large parts for civil aircraft from aluminum alloys. This pressing equipment was developed by the Kolomna Machine Tool Plant "Stankotekh" of the "STAN" holding of the Rostec State Corporation by order of the United Aircraft Corporation.
Its specific deformation pressure is 40 megapascals, which is equal to almost 400 atmospheric pressures. For example, this pressure is used to help a deep-sea submarine float to the surface from the seabed. The entire structure weighs 650 tons, the height above the floor level is 4.7 meters and more than 8 meters together with the foundation, and the power is 800 kilowatts.
The principle of operation of the P5220 machine is similar to the operation of a volumetric sheet stamping machine. It is driven by two steel hydraulic cylinders, forming the necessary part from the workpiece. The equipment design is designed for the production of elements up to 4200 by 1350 mm and a height of no more than 270 mm. At the same time, it takes no more than two minutes to manufacture one part. The pressing process is automated – the machine is equipped with software control. This ensures maximum accuracy of operations, simplifies the production process, and makes working with the machine completely safe.
With the help of such a pressing machine, it is possible to produce long parts of aircraft. For example, elements of fuel tanks, life support systems and aircraft panels for the production of civil aircraft MS-21 and Tu-214.
