Российским школьникам и студентам начнут выдавать электронные аттестаты и дипломы

The Cabinet has expanded the experiment on creating electronic educational documents

The Russian government has decided to expand the experiment on creating electronic educational documents. In addition to schools, universities, and colleges, institutions of additional education will join it, the Cabinet's press service reported.

This year, the experiment, which will take place in three stages, will cover 277 schools, 260 colleges, 61 universities, and 225 institutions of additional education.

It is specified that from March 15 to September 30, the relevant departments will work out the mechanism for creating documents on basic (9 grades), secondary (11 grades), professional, and higher education. Certificates and diplomas will be stored in the Unified Register of Digital Documents. From October 1 to December 31, the register will be put into operation.

The government's press service explained that digital educational documents are necessary as part of the expansion of the "Gosuslugi" service—"Admission to a university online." Subsequently, such documents can be used when entering a university or for employment. However, they do not cancel diplomas and certificates in paper form.

Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development reported that a digital student ID will be introduced in 2024. It will be available in the "Gosuslugi" application.
