Rosaviatsiya has given the go-ahead for the Ufa enterprise UEC-UMPO to carry out scheduled overhauls of parts and components of the PD-14 engine for the MC-21 medium-range airliner.
The Ufa enterprise UEC-UMPO has been producing more than 30% of parts and assembly units for the PD-14 since 2020. In particular, these are working fan blades, a high-pressure compressor rotor, a separation housing, a low-pressure turbine with a rear support, castings for the gearbox housing, a central drive and a shaft line. Before the arrival of the commission and obtaining a new Rosaviatsiya certificate, UEC-UMPO was only engaged in certified maintenance of PD-14 parts and components.
In addition, the new certificate gives the company the right to conduct non-destructive testing of parts and assembly units of the PD-14 engine - this is additional quality control of products.
The PD-14 engine is a UEC development for the promising MC-21-310 medium-range Russian aircraft from UAC.
The family of fifth-generation turbofan engines for promising civil, transport and special aviation received Rosaviatsiya certification in 2018, and later they also received international certification. The production of these engines began in 2023, and their serial delivery will begin in 2024.
It is known that the PD-14 weighs 2,870 kg and has a thrust of 14 thousand kgf in take-off mode. The engine can provide a flight range of up to 5.1 thousand kilometers, but in the future it may grow to 7 thousand kilometers.
