Changes are being made to the new Russian Su-75 Checkmate advanced fighter based on the wishes of potential customers. It will receive additional technical modifications that will make it more attractive and optimize its cost.
According to Rostec State Corporation, UAC's subsidiary received feedback from potential customers on the Checkmate program. Wishes regarding the design of the advanced fifth-generation fighter are being considered and implemented in practice at the Sukhoi Design Bureau (part of UAC). As representatives of the state corporation noted in a conversation with TASS, the principle of modularity and modern digital technologies used in the fighter made it possible to "make technical changes to the aircraft in the shortest possible time."
In addition to collecting additional requirements expressed by potential buyers, work was also carried out to optimize costs and analyze individual technical solutions. This made it possible to significantly increase competitiveness, commercial attractiveness, and reduce technical risks in the creation of a domestic single-engine aircraft.
It is known that, in particular, due to the modularity of the fighter, the Sukhoi Design Bureau has provided for the replacement of the Su-75 cockpit with the head section of a drone. The fighter-transformer was patented in December 2023.
The advanced single-engine fifth-generation Su-75 Checkmate fighter has an unmanned version, as well as versions for one and two pilots. It can accelerate to a speed of Mach 2 and carry 7,400 kg of combat load. Its compartments have space for air-to-air and air-to-ground aviation weapons. Checkmate is capable of opening simultaneous fire on six targets within a combat radius of 3,000 kilometers.
The fighter uses the most advanced developments, including an open architecture for building in the interests of the customer and unique artificial intelligence technologies. It was presented to potential buyers and interested parties at the global level at the Dubai Airshow 2023 International Aviation and Space Exhibition and received a lot of attention. The management of Rosoboronexport then stated that it was ready to cooperate with foreign partners in the creation of fighter modifications. It is known that at least Nigeria is interested in purchasing the Su-75 Checkmate.
The documentation required for mass production has already been completed and put in order.
