Sky Technologies (a subsidiary of Softline Group) has acquired payment equipment vendor Inversum to combine resources and create Russia's first localized line of payment terminals.
Softline Group reported that the payment terminals will operate on the basis of Russian software. Sky Technologies plans to increase its presence in the Russian market and abroad.
To produce POS terminals, the developer must have design documentation, EMV and PCI DSS security certificates. Inversum has some of the documents, and the rest are in the process of being obtained.
Sky Technologies' existing IT solutions have been included in the unified register of Russian software for computers and databases, and also comply with the standards of the Mir payment system. The first batch of Russian payment terminals is expected to be released as early as 2024.
In parallel, the Moscow-based company Element-Technologies is developing a domestic POS terminal.
