Automotive designer Alexey Garagashyan showed a test drive of a prototype of his new tactical pickup truck AG-34 in winter on his YouTube channel. The car, which conquered viewers and the jury of competitions in the warm season in the Tula region, also coped well with obstacles in winter.
AG-34 runs on a domestic YaMZ 534 engine with a power of 240 hp. The pickup truck weighs 3.2 tons, and at the same time it is capable of carrying a maximum payload of 3 tons - however, at a reduced speed when moving over rough terrain. The speed reaches up to 120 km/h.
During the tests, the pickup truck had 600 kg of payload (driver and bags of sand), plus 200 liters of fuel. The AG-34 fuel tank is more than 200 liters - this allows for a cruising range of over 1000 km on roads.
As the developer himself noted in the comments to the video, the pickup truck in the video is not the final version of what the production design will look like. This copy only helps to work out the design, and "production pickups will be better." The AG-34 has related parts from GAZ.
There is not a single part from GAZ-66 here. The closest components to it are Sadko axles [GAZ-3308 - editor's note], but with disc brakes of our own design, gearbox and transfer case from Sadko Next [GAZ-C41A23 special vehicle, editor's note]. It is possible to install a Chinese gearbox. With it, the maximum speed will be up to 150 km/h.
The AG-34 multi-purpose pickup truck will have several modifications, and over time it will also go on sale. How much they will cost is not yet clear.
