Russian engineers have developed several complexes of optical homing of FPV drones to turn them into an air self-guided torpedo mode. This was stated by the head of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (TsKBR), Dmitry Kuzyakin.
According to him, the systems are being tested in the combat zone, but it has already been proven that the technology has great potential.
Targets can be ground stationary, mobile or air
The head of TsKBR explained that the operator directs the FPV drone to the area where the enemy is located. When an enemy is detected, a search frame of the sight is fixed on it, and a signal is sent to the drone to hold the target. After that, the FPV drone is switched to self-guided torpedo mode - it finds the target and destroys it.
The new complexes solve the problem of losing communication with kamikaze drones over long distances. Now operators will not have to approach the enemy to complete the task, which will make their work safer.
