The PP-2000 submachine gun, developed by the Tula-based KBP named after Shipunov (part of Rostec), has entered trial operation with the pilots of the Russian Aerospace Forces. The new personal weapon, which is included in the NAZ - portable emergency supply, has received high marks, according to an informed source.
A large batch of PP-2000s has been delivered to the troops. They are used to equip the NAZ of pilots who carry out combat missions.
Pilots speak positively about the weapon – it is compact, with good accuracy, and at the same time has a significantly greater lethal range than a pistol
In addition to weapons, the NAZ includes a first aid kit, food, a knife, and communications equipment. The package is placed in the ejection seat, so in the event of the pilot ejecting, the emergency supply will remain with him.
In Soviet times, the NAZ did not include assault rifles. Combat aviation pilots could take pistols or grenades with them on the plane. When evacuating from the plane, the pilot kept the weapon in the pocket of his overalls or jacket.
The PP-2000 is a weapon for special forces soldiers in Russia, designed for 9x19 mm or 7N31 ammunition. The submachine gun has been in use since 2006. Its maximum sighting range is 200 m, and its effective range is 100 m. The main magazine holds 20 rounds, and the additional one holds 44. The rate of fire is up to 800 rounds per minute.
PP-2000 ammunition has a feature that prevents the bullet from ricocheting, even if it collides with an obstacle. Because of this, the weapon can be effective in neutralizing criminals in an enclosed space. In addition to standard ammunition, it is possible to use special armor-piercing cartridges with a steel core. If necessary, such cartridges can penetrate armor up to 8 mm thick at a distance of 10 meters.
The additional 44-round magazine is easily installed as a buttstock. Despite this, its area is not enough to provide a full stop, which leads to the fact that the pistol can slip off the shoulder when firing.
