Instead of Siemens: Russia Starts Producing New 170 MW Gas Turbines

The number of domestic GTE-170s will increase annually. Previously, such units were imported into Russia

Russia's largest power engineering company, "Power Machines," has released the first domestic serial gas turbine of high power GTE-170, complete with a generator and waste heat boiler. Previously, such units were imported into Russia, mainly from Siemens.

The first gas turbine will be installed at the Nizhnekamsk CHP plant

The 170 MW equipment fully complies with the requirements of the Russian Federation Government Decree No. 719 "On confirming the production of industrial products on the territory of the Russian Federation."

"Power Machines," in addition to assembling and supplying turbine sets, will also provide service maintenance for its products, as well as the production and supply of spare parts for them

The number of new GTE-170s will increase annually. According to the production schedule, the first turbine was released this year. In 2024, the company will transfer the next two gas turbines to customers, in 2025 – six turbines, in 2026 – eight turbines.

Since 2027, the company intends to produce and supply 10 gas turbines per year to Russian facilities - as the company assures, "with the prospect of further increase"

Such rapid development of import-independent production became possible with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The total investment of "Power Machines" in the project is 25 billion rubles, of which 6.8 billion rubles for R&D became a subsidy from the state.
