Winter holidays are a great time to go to a museum. The editors of www1.ru recommend visiting the Museum and Exhibition Complex "Island of Forts" in Kronstadt, where the submarine K-3 "Leninsky Komsomol" is located.
For more than 30 years, K-3 was part of the Northern Fleet of the USSR Navy. The boat took its place in a special pavilion of the museum a year ago, and in the summer of 2023 it was presented to the participants of the International Naval Salon, which took place in Kronstadt.
Before K-3 got to the museum, it was located on the Kola Peninsula in the city of Snezhnogorsk, Murmansk Region. Thanks to the efforts of specialists from USC, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the authorities of St. Petersburg, it was moved from Snezhnogorsk through the Barents and White Seas, Lake Ladoga, rivers and canals of St. Petersburg to Kronstadt.
K-3 is the lead submarine of Project 627 "Kit". It was laid down at a factory in Severodvinsk in September 1955, and launched in August 1957. In 1988, the ship was withdrawn from the combat fleet. "Leninsky Komsomol" traveled 128,443 miles during its service.
Earlier, the Pacific Fleet was replenished with the submarine "Mozhaisk", equipped with the "Caliber" missile system.
