The Russian company "Drone Solutions" has developed two types of drones: the multirotor "Hornet" and the vertical take-off and landing "Aist". The drones will be used for the needs of ships following the Northern Sea Route.
It is specified that the hybrid "Hornet" will be engaged in marking icebergs. Its tests, which will be held jointly with the country's largest shipping company - "Sovcomflot", are scheduled for 2024. For ice navigation, specialists plan to use "Aist" - an aircraft capable of staying in the air for up to 5 hours.
According to the press service of "Drone Solutions", this year the company's engineers, together with the "Hornet", participated in a pilot project in the interests of "Sovcomflot". From July to September, they conducted drone tests in the Kara Sea.
As a result, it was decided to increase the flight duration of the "Hornet". Now the aircraft, which has an 11-liter fuel tank, can stay in flight for up to 3 hours.
The company's website states that their drones can be used in ports, quarries, factories, and be part of the "Safe City" system.
