Russian bank Sberbank is in negotiations with Egyptian specialists about the possible use of artificial intelligence technologies to decipher ancient Egyptian manuscripts. Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, confirmed that their algorithm, used in the "Digital Peter" project, could assist in unraveling mysterious texts.
Vedyakhin expressed hope for possible historical discoveries through this collaboration, noting the successful results of deciphering the manuscripts of Peter I with an accuracy of about 98%, which is a high indicator compared to foreign projects.
I was in Egypt, communicated with colleagues, and I think that this will be the next interesting direction in the development of historical thought. Maybe we will make some historical discoveries
According to the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, the difficulty in this work will be that "Egyptian manuscripts are made on papyrus or other fragile media that may disintegrate." Thus, when working with such sources, you need to be very careful, because they cannot be constantly opened and closed. Vedyakhin clarified that at this stage, discussions are underway on how to apply AI from Sberbank to decipher and preserve these documents.
