Kalashnikov Delivered Vikhr-1 Guided Missiles to the Russian Army Ahead of Schedule Under State Order

The largest Russian enterprise in the defense industry, the Kalashnikov concern, has completed its obligations ahead of schedule under a state contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for the supply of Vikhr-1 air-launched guided missiles.

The products, which were planned to be shipped before the end of 2023, were sent to the Russian army ahead of schedule. Control and flight tests of the missiles confirmed their compliance with the technical specifications, the company's press service reported.

According to the head of Kalashnikov, Alan Lushnikov, specialists have done a great job to make the Vikhr-1 a more effective weapon. The product remains in demand by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. In addition, Lushnikov emphasized that it has the potential for modernization.

The Vikhr-1 missiles (weight 59 kg in the container) are equipped on the Ka-52 reconnaissance-attack helicopters (Alligator). With their help, the helicopter crew hits enemy armored vehicles and fortifications, as well as moving ground and air targets.

Firing range - up to 10 km, missile speed - over 600 m/s, can be operated at temperatures from +50°C to -50°C. Vikhr-1 has been supplied to the Russian Armed Forces since 2015.
