The Su-34 aircraft, manufactured at the Chkalov Novosibirsk Aviation Plant (part of the United Aircraft Corporation — UAC), were handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defense. This is the second batch of aircraft delivered to the defense department in 2023.
The multi-functional supersonic Su-34 bomber has successfully passed ground and flight tests, the Rostec State Corporation reported. Vladimir Artyakov, Deputy Head of the corporation, emphasized that the obligations for the supply of bombers are being fulfilled on time. Work has already begun to ensure deliveries in 2024.
The Su-34 aircraft are considered an important part of the strike power of the Russian Aerospace Forces. This aircraft has a wide range of combat capabilities. As noted in the press service of the corporation, the Su-34 has proven itself in the performance of combat missions.
The Su-34 was developed at the Sukhoi Design Bureau and is the "successor" to the Su-24 front-line bomber. In 2014, the Su-34 was adopted into service by the Russian Air Force (now the Russian Aerospace Forces).
Earlier, a source in the defense industry stated that the Su-34s received long-range cruise missiles, which will expand their tactical application capabilities.
