The nuclear reactor vessel for the Turkish Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant was shipped from Atommash in Volgodonsk. This event marks a significant milestone in the history of not only Russian but also global nuclear engineering.
This is the fifth reactor vessel shipped from Rosatom's production site in Volgodonsk in 2023. This volume of shipments is currently an absolute record for nuclear engineering in its entire history.
That Rosatom was heading for a record was announced in August by the head of the company, Alexey Likhachev, and now, in fact, the record has been set.
Atommash reported that the total weight of the equipment being shipped to Turkey is 320 tons, and the shipment itself will be carried out in a combined manner: first by special vehicles to the factory pier, and then by barge to the destination.
