The Bank of Russia has already launched a pilot project to test the digital ruble — 13 banks are participating in it. But it is much more interesting when the third form of Russian currency becomes available to ordinary citizens. The First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, Olga Skorobogatova, answered this question.
And we directly want to launch the digital ruble into our daily lives from the beginning of 2025. That is, if we imagine what our payment system will look like in a year and a half, then we will have the entire list of payment instruments that exist and will be in the most modern countries.
Russians will be able to use digital rubles from the age of 14, but parental consent will be required to open a corresponding digital wallet.
Interestingly, the Bank of Russia is already looking at the possibilities of using the digital ruble as broadly as possible: the regulator wants the third form of Russian currency to be used not only in the country, but also abroad.
