2ГИС начал строить маршруты внутри зданий и торговых центров

Now the app will show the shortest route to a specific store, and also suggest the way to the stairs or escalator

2GIS has rolled out a useful update to its navigation application: now it is much easier to navigate in shopping centers or inside buildings with its help.

The 2GIS database contains 2,200 Russian shopping centers. If earlier the application could only lead to the entrance to the shopping center, now users of the application will see a dotted line that will lead through all floors of the shopping center to a specific store. Also, the navigation will suggest ascents and descents to other floors by elevator, escalator or stairs.

As for the navigator inside the building, it does not work like on the street: since the exact location in the premises is not determined, 2GIS simply creates a static route map that simplifies orientation.

2GIS has data on passages in shopping centers, stairs, escalators, elevators, the location of shops and boutiques - in order to make it more useful now, we have released an update for the pedestrian navigator, which allows you to build routes inside buildings in the absence of accurate user geolocation.

In the future, the company plans to introduce a function for building routes in airports, railway stations and business centers.
