Photos of the experienced long-range passenger aircraft Il-96-400M have appeared online. This is a deeply modernized version of the Il-96-300, which stands out primarily due to its fuselage lengthened by 9.35 m. Currently, the airliner is being prepared for its first flight at the site of the Voronezh enterprise VASO.
The Il-96-400M also received new, more powerful PS-90A1 engines and modern Russian equipment, including avionics. The airliner will be able to carry about 400 passengers and perform transcontinental flights.
Alas, the fate of the Il-96-400M is still uncertain. Due to sanctions and the closure of many countries near and far abroad to Russians, long-range wide-body aircraft are not currently in demand in Russia. In fact, the only destination capable of fully unlocking the potential of the Il-96-400M is flights to Cuba, but Boeing 777s are currently flying there and doing a good job of it. The Il-96-400M is not mentioned in the comprehensive program for the development of the Russian aviation industry.
