Korean broadcaster MBC reported that Hyundai Motors is waiting for the Russian authorities' approval to sell its Russian factory to a Kazakh company. Although Hyundai itself has not confirmed this information, it is in line with information from Russian sources. In particular, this was already written about by the Telegram channel 'Russian car'.
The buyer of the Russian factory might be 'Astana Motors', which includes the distributor companies Hyundai Auto Kazakhstan and Hyundai Com Trans Kazakhstan, as well as the manufacturing enterprises Hyundai Trans Almaty and Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan. It is 'Astana Motors' that is responsible for assembly in Kazakhstan of the budget sedans Hyundai Accent (known in Russia as Solaris) from bodies that are produced at the Russian factory. Moreover, they are currently being produced for Kazakhstan. Therefore, the acquisition of the Russian Hyundai factory by 'Astana Motors' seems more than logical.
There is a suggestion that after the sale of the plant, the Kazakh company may resume production in Russia of the Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Solaris, and Kia Rio, but under different names.
