The leadership of the Indian Ministry of Defense has begun negotiations with Russia on the purchase of additional S-400 "Triumph" long-range anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM). This was reported by the Western publication The Military Watch Magazine, citing the defense department.
The Indian Air Force was satisfied with the combat characteristics of the Russian system, which, experts believe, was the main factor that prompted the authorities to start negotiations on additional purchases.
In August 2025, the commander of the Indian Air Force, Amar Preet Singh, commented on the effectiveness of the S-400. According to him, the anti-aircraft missile system helped in the conflict against Pakistan.
A source in the Indian Ministry of Defense stated that the S-400 systems neutralized at least 5 fighters and, possibly, a Pakistani AWACS aircraft. The country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke about the success of the Russian air defense system.
