Russia has offered India to replace the outdated Soviet main battle tanks (MBT) T-72 with the latest T-14 "Armata" produced by "Uralvagonzavod". This was written by military expert Tahir Qureshi in an article for India.com.
The discussion concerns the production of the T-14 according to New Delhi's "Made in India" initiative, Qureshi explained.
"Uralvagonzavod" can refine and improve the tank in accordance with India's needs under its "Next Generation Main Battle Tank" (NGMBT) program.
The expert did not rule out cooperation between UVZ and the Indian Center for Research and Development of Combat Vehicles or other state defense enterprises.
Qureshi recalled that earlier "Uralvagonzavod" signed an agreement with India on the transfer of technologies for T-90S tanks. Now they are produced under the name T-90 "Bhishma". More than 83% of the parts in the combat vehicle, including the engine, are of Indian production.
The T-14 "Armata" is considered one of the most advanced tanks in the world. It is equipped with a remote control system, an armored capsule for the crew, and the "Afganit" active protection complex (KAZ).
