Russia has sent ten Tu-95 strategic bombers to the "Belaya" airbase in the Irkutsk region. This was reported by The National Interest, citing OSINT specialist (open-source intelligence gathering and analysis) Anderson.
Military expert Peter Suciu recalled that the 200th Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Brest Red Banner Regiment is based here. It is armed with Tu-22M3 bombers.
MiG-31 and Su-27 fighters are also stationed at the base. It is believed that several Tu-160 bombers and transport aircraft are stationed there.
Suciu wonders why the leadership of the Russian Aerospace Forces transferred such a number of aircraft, including the MiG-31, to the Irkutsk region.
Two MiG-31s in the "K" modification can carry the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched hypersonic missile.
Making sorties from the airbase in the Irkutsk region, "bombers and other aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces can use their weapons without leaving Russian airspace and return back," Suciu summarized.
