The newest self-propelled artillery units (SPGs) 2S44 "Hyacinth-K" (variant of 2S43 "Malva") were involved in the rehearsal of the Victory Day Parade in Moscow. This confirms that both howitzers are in service with the Russian Armed Forces, writes the Western publication Army Recognition.
2S44 Hyacinth-K is based on the BAZ-6910-027 "Voshchina" 8×8 wheeled chassis and has an open artillery mount. The modification of "Malva" became known at the end of 2024 after its appearance in a report by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The project used available components, including the 152-mm 2A36 gun, which is no longer mass-produced but is stored in warehouses. This reduced the production cycle.
The 2A36 gun is designed to suppress and destroy enemy manpower, fire weapons, armaments and military equipment. It can be used in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures from −50 °C to +50 °C.
BAZ-6910-027 "Voshchina", developed by the Bryansk Automobile Plant, has a length of 12.4 meters, a curb weight of 18 tons and a carrying capacity of 20 tons.
Characteristics of 2S44 "Hyacinth-K":
