Malaysian company Aerospace Technology Systems Corporation has modernized 18 Su-30MKM fighters of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, extending their service life by at least 10 years. This is reported by Bulgarian Military.
Aerospace Technology Systems Corporation carried out a major overhaul of the fighter's engines and modernized the aircraft's avionics. Specialists installed new radar systems and electronic warfare (EW) systems, as well as communication equipment.
The Su-30MKM received updated software for integrating the mission planning and flight control system.
Malaysia has entered into an agreement with the Indian company Samtel Avionics, which will equip the Su-30MKM with modern multifunctional displays and Head-Up indicators.
About the Su-30MKM
The Su-30MKM was developed at the Sukhoi Design Bureau based on the Su-30MKI fighter. The aircraft has a similar airframe, an engine with thrust vector control, and a digital control system. The Su-30MKM modification differs from the Su-30MKI in the composition of its onboard equipment.
