Traffic police officers will be able to revoke driving licenses starting from March 1, 2027. This will be possible due to real-time information exchange with medical organizations regarding contraindications to driving. This was announced by lawyer Lev Voropaev.
According to him, if information is received about a driving candidate, they will be denied a license. If it's about an active driver, they will be required to undergo a medical examination and a commission assessment within three months.
Starting from March 1, 2027, there will be an automatic exchange of information between medical institutions and the State Traffic Inspectorate. Traffic police officers will practically in real-time see all contraindications that prohibit a particular driver from driving.
Currently, the right to drive is also terminated due to medical contraindications, but for this, the prosecutor must file an administrative lawsuit in court. Only a court can revoke the right to drive.
From 2027, the procedure will become automatic: information from doctors will go directly to the State Traffic Inspectorate, and the decision will be made without a court.
