PAO "Tupolev" has been tasked with carrying out a deep modernization of the long-range aviation aircraft fleet. This was stated in an episode of the program "Voennaya Priemka" by the former managing director of the company, Vadim Korolev, who now works within the United Aircraft Corporation.
According to him, the discussion was about the prospect for "the coming years".
This will allow for new combat capabilities for long-range aviation aircraft, extend their service life, and enable their intended use.
It should be noted that the long-range aviation fleet of the Russian Aerospace Forces includes three types of strategic bomber-missile carriers — Tu-160M "White Swan", Tu-22M3, and Tu-95MS, which has already been upgraded to the Tu-95MSM version.
The total number of combat aircraft remains classified. According to foreign researchers, up to 120 aircraft are in service, including 53 Tu-95s, up to 18 Tu-160s, and about 50 Tu-22M3s.
