Alexander Potapov, General Director of the Uralvagonzavod Concern, stated that the concern's enterprises do not use imported components in the production of tanks and vehicles based on them. However, he noted that one dependence still remains.
According to him, UVZ carried out a set of import substitution measures. Since 2018, serial tanks have been equipped with domestic thermal imaging sights that surpass foreign analogues.
Since 2014, Uralvagonzavod has been under sanctions. In 2014–2015, we completely eliminated dependence on Ukraine, and in 2015–2017, on other countries. Dependence on Southeast Asia is a matter of risks.
Potapov added that China could compete with Uralvagonzavod in certain markets. He named the rich experience of operating combat vehicles as one of the enterprise's strengths.
If on Indian T-72s a certain toggle switch has been in one place for decades, and Indian army tankers are used to it, then we always meet them halfway during modernization to maintain certain familiar interfaces. This is how interaction and partnerships are built.
In addition to producing the already proven T-90M, T-80BVM, and T-72B3M, Uralvagonzavod is developing new generation tanks and combat vehicles, while simultaneously introducing the latest technologies into serial armored vehicles.
