The Russian market for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids is doubling: by the end of 2026, more than 100,000 such cars will be sold in the country, the head of Autostat reported on his Telegram channel. This is twice as many as a year earlier.
In the first nine months of 2026, 11.4 thousand 'pure' electric vehicles and 58.7 thousand plug-in hybrids were registered in Russia. Sales of the former increased by 42%, and the latter by 2.5 times. The share of battery-powered cars during this period was 1.2% of the market, and plug-in hybrids – 6.1%. In September, these figures rose to 2.6% and 8.2%, respectively.
At the CarX-2026 forum, market participants stated that even with the normalization of the fuel situation, the segment's growth will continue. China is the locomotive of the global trend.
According to the expert, manufacturers will offer more models with electric motors. Each year they will become more affordable, and charging speed and range will increase.
