High and medium pressure rotors of a new 120 MW steam turbine have been delivered to Novosibirsk TPP-3. It will replace the 100-megawatt unit No. 11. The equipment arrived from Yekaterinburg, and the installation of the main equipment at the station is planned to begin in October, reported the Siberian Generating Company.
The new 120 MW turbine consists of three cylinders – high, medium, and low pressure. Steam sequentially passes through them and transfers energy to the rotors.
Currently, high-pressure heaters have already been installed on the site, and work is underway on the feedwater pipeline, steam supply, embedded parts, and foundation.
In the near future, the low-pressure cylinder and rotor are expected to be delivered to the station. After that, power engineers will begin installing the main equipment. In parallel, SibirEnergoMontazh replaced the generator operating in conjunction with the turbine. The new unit was manufactured in Novosibirsk and is 10 MW more powerful than the previous one.
Turbine unit No. 11 is the second of two TPP-3 units being modernized under the federal KOMMod program. The first, No. 13, was already put into commercial operation in 2026.
After the completion of both projects, the installed electrical capacity of TPP-3 should increase from 496 to 536 MW – by 40 MW, or approximately 8%. SGK plans to increase the average annual electricity generation by 13%. The company's total investment in upgrading the station's generating capacities will exceed 12 billion rubles.
