Artificial intelligence can replace linear accountants (ordinary specialists who perform routine tasks and do not make strategic decisions). This opinion was expressed by 29% of respondents in a survey conducted by analysts from the Finlid service (owned by Tochka Bank) and the Bukhexpert platform.
Another 57% of respondents are confident that due to the development of neural networks, the requirements for accountants' qualifications will increase. About 18% believe that the role of an accountant as a business partner will become the standard.
The study emphasizes that most accounting processes are already being automated. However, AI has not yet become a widespread tool for accountants.
Currently, only 3% of accountants are actively implementing neural networks. At the same time, 37% use AI selectively, 17% tested it to solve their problems but did not receive much benefit. Almost half of the respondents (43%) do not use AI in their work at all.
Overall, 56% of respondents believe that in the future, routine tasks will be automated, and the accountant's role will become more analytical. A quarter of respondents (26%) do not rule out that some specialists may lose their jobs due to automation.
The survey involved 1,248 accountants. The vast majority of them (94%) have been in the profession for more than 8 years, 63% for more than 20 years.
