Specialists from the Zvyozdochka Ship Repair Center (Severodvinsk, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) have installed a Russian-made deck electro-hydraulic crane for the Akademik Makeyev naval weapons transport (Project 20181). This was reported by the company's press service.
The crane arrived in Severodvinsk from St. Petersburg via the White Sea-Baltic Canal. It is designed for loading/unloading various types of naval weapons and oversized cargo.
The boom length is 44 meters, and its weight is 93 tons. This is the first domestic lifting device with such characteristics, emphasized the press service of CS Zvyozdochka.
Employees of the dock-water-rigging shop participated in the crane installation. They worked in three shifts.
The main difficulty during unloading was that the length of our floating pier is 36 meters, and the crane boom is 44 meters. That is, the upper part protruded 8 meters above the water, and the tugs had to maneuver.
Severodvinsk shipbuilders had to use 2 cranes simultaneously. They performed a task of such complexity for the first time.
The Akademik Makeyev naval weapons transport was laid down at CS Zvyozdochka in 2015. The vessel was rolled out of the slipway and launched in August 2025.
Finishing work is currently underway on it. It is expected that the transport will be handed over to the Northern Fleet by the end of 2026.
