AvtoVAZ has already started testing future modifications of the Lada Azimut crossover – with a turbo engine and a hybrid powertrain. This was announced by the head of the company, Maxim Sokolov, at the launch of the model's production.
According to him, the company is not resting on its laurels. These cars will form the basis for the development of a promising Lada model range – the most localized cars on the Russian market.
What is known about the new products
The turbocharged version of the Lada Azimut has been undergoing tests since at least June 2026. It is expected to receive an engine with a power of about 150 hp paired with a classic hydromechanical automatic transmission. Serial production of the turbo-Azimut is planned for 2027.
The hybrid modification will be much more powerful. According to AvtoVAZ, the plug-in all-wheel drive with a 290 kW (about 390 hp) powertrain will allow the crossover to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, and the range will exceed 1100 km. A prototype of the hybrid is promised to be shown by the end of 2026, but the decision on serial production will only be made based on the test results.
The basic version of the Lada Azimut went into production on September 25. At the start of sales, the crossover will be offered with naturally aspirated engines of 1.6 liters (120 hp) and 1.8 liters (132 hp). Plans for 2027 include the production of about 20 thousand cars, and the potential maximum is 70 thousand per year.
