It will catch up with any enemy drone: the characteristics of the "Lis-2" interceptor drone have been revealed

The Russian Ministry of Defense showed a video with dozens of aircraft-type UAVs

Servicemen of the air defense regiment of the Aerospace Forces within the "Sever" group of forces destroyed more than 200 enemy drones during 2 months of duty. The soldiers used small arms, air defense systems, and "Lis-2" and "Yolka" interceptor drones. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The defense department published a video showing dozens of "Lis-2" interceptor drones. The footage shows a Russian Armed Forces serviceman preparing the drone for a combat mission. He connects all systems, checks the ailerons (control surfaces on the trailing edge of the wing that are necessary for control). After making sure they are operational, the soldier carries the drone to the launch site using a catapult.

"Lis-2" is a small aircraft-type apparatus with a "flying wing" aerodynamic scheme and a pusher propeller.

The department emphasized that "Lis-2" is easy to operate and can be launched from any flat surface and without a catapult. This is how members of mobile fire groups (MOG) launch it into the air.

The interceptor drone received a reinforced carbon fiber structure, which ensures resistance to overloads during maneuvers. Thanks to high mobility, UAV operators quickly move to designated squares to neutralize enemy targets, the Russian Ministry of Defense concluded.

Methods of engagement using "Lis-2":

  • ramming
  • directed fragmentation effect (high-explosive fragmentation warhead)

Artificial intelligence is integrated into the interceptor drone. The speed of the "Lis-2" is 230 km/h, which is enough to catch up with any enemy UAV (their average speed is up to 170 km/h).

The range of the Russian UAV is up to 15 km, flight altitude is up to 4000 m. It can stay in the air for up to half an hour.
