Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to consider the possibility of using the "Max" messenger for fare payment in public transport. The corresponding instruction was published on the Kremlin website.
The document states the need to explore the possibility of using a unified biometric system, its regional segments, and the "Digital Platform MAKS" service for cashless fare payment in public transport.
The Russian government, together with relevant State Council commissions and regional authorities, have been appointed as responsible parties. The instruction was given following a meeting of the State Council Presidium.
Earlier, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" reported that new rules for passenger transportation will be in effect in Russia from September 1, 2026. They provide for the possibility of confirming travel benefits through the "Max" messenger, as well as payment via NFC and the state biometric system, if the carrier has the technical capability.
