The Russian fishing fleet is planned to be built under a new scheme. The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes to assign its production to 20 Russian shipyards that already have experience in building cargo ships. This approach should provide factories with stable long-term workload and reduce construction costs through serial production of vessels and equipment unification.
Journalists refer to a presentation by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with a methodological approach to the construction of civilian vessels until 2050. In August, the document was sent to industry representatives to form a position, according to "Vedomosti".
The names of the 20 shipyards are not specified in the presentation. However, the document lists six vessel projects that can be assigned to specific enterprises. These include crabbers, trawlers, and a longliner-processor.
The final list of projects is planned to be formed taking into account the unification of ship components and the application of unified platform solutions. At least 66 vessels have already been ordered for these six projects. They are being built under the "Quotas for Keel" program. The program also provides for the allocation of quotas to companies for catching aquatic biological resources in exchange for building a fleet at Russian shipyards.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade expects that assigning projects to specific enterprises will ensure the long-term loading of their production capacities. Serial production and unification of ship equipment, in turn, should help ensure the cost-effectiveness of vessel construction.
At the same time, the presentation notes that an increase in the catch of aquatic biological resources is not expected in the coming years. A representative of OSK told "Vedomosti" that the corporation is involved in developing the initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and supports the approach of shipyard specialization.
