Russia is preparing to supply India with 105 regional Il-114-300 aircraft at a time when its own airlines need to replace about 300 foreign airliners. There are only about two to three years left for this, said Viktor Gorbachev, a member of the Public Council under Rosaviatsiya.
According to him, the export of large batches of Il-114-300 will only exacerbate the already emerging shortage of aircraft within the country.
Our airlines have 300 foreign-made aircraft that need to be replaced in the next two to three years. Otherwise, there will be nothing to fly on. And we are saturating the Indian market. Then we will have to switch to railway, road, and water transport. We simply will not have civil aviation.
Gorbachev also questioned the volume of Indian supplies. Given the planned pace of 20 Il-114-300 units, the production of a hundred turboprops will require infrastructure expansion.
A few days ago, OAK announced its intentions to supply 85 regional aircraft to local airlines and up to 20 more aircraft for Indian Air Kerala. In total, the potential portfolio reaches 105 airliners.
