Ulan-Ude has launched Buryatia's first fully digital 110 kV "Kulturnaya" substation with a capacity of 32 MVA: dispatchers monitor and control it remotely, and the equipment is domestically produced. This was reported by the People's Khural of the republic.
About 1.5 billion rubles were invested in the project. A 110 kV cable 473 meters long was laid under the bottom of the Uda River using horizontal directional drilling: no trench was dug, the line was extended under the riverbed. This method has never been used in Buryatia before.
"Kulturnaya" will power four objects of Ulan-Ude's master plan: the National Museum, the "Baikal" theater, a student campus, and the "Ulaan-Khoto" residential complex. For the republic, this is the first substation with remote control and domestic equipment – without it, the new facilities would not have received power.
