AvtoVAZ's first production crossover could roll off the assembly line as early as September 18

Lada Azimut is set to become one of the brand's main new products: the base version is announced with 120 horsepower and a manual transmission

Serial production of Lada Azimut could begin as early as September 18, 2026. This date was announced to Autonews.ru by an official Lada dealership and confirmed by a source familiar with the situation. AvtoVAZ itself has not yet named a date: the company's press service stated that the start of serial assembly would be announced "when the time comes."

However, dealers themselves have not yet agreed on when the new crossover will go on sale. Industry participants expect to start selling the car as early as November 2026. Other experts, on the contrary, do not expect the first production crossovers until January 2027.

AvtoVAZ reported that Lada Azimut will enter the market in the fourth quarter of 2026. By the end of the year, the company plans to produce several thousand of these crossovers.

The Azimut will be AvtoVAZ's first self-developed production crossover in its modern history. The model will be offered in several trim levels.

Base versions will receive a 1.6-liter engine with 120 hp and a six-speed manual transmission. More expensive variants will be equipped with a 1.8-liter engine with 135 hp and a variator.

The Lada Azimut will not have all-wheel drive. However, AvtoVAZ is already working on a prototype crossover with a hybrid powertrain producing over 300 hp.
